What media is used on the Diamond Rio MP3 player? Smartmedia. Smartmedia can be used like any ol' storage device. It doesn't have to store only pictures. My smartmedia reader just adds a drive letter and I can access it like any hard drive.

CompactFlash Type II can use the IBM microdrive.. they have a 1 GB version. Top that Sony.

Good for them! I'm glad they're catching up! In 1998 I bought a device to read my smartmedia cards in any of my computers.

MemoryStick is too late to the party. I read recently that Toshiba released the Smartmedia specs FREE to any company. and I don't believe CompactFlash is owned by any one company either.
